The unavailability notice does not get away when trying to create a new user with an existing name.

Steps to reproduce:

• Check the box 'New user?'
• Type in an existing username
• Wait for the unavailability notice to be displayed
• Uncheck the 'New user?' box
• The unavailability notice should go away, but it is still there like a ghost
