Seventeenth release

After a long break Motiro 0.6.5 will be released on May 16th. This release will focus on fixes and improvements to the wiki page versioning that was introduced with 0.6.4. Some things are not working very well and some can be improved:

New events and suggestions go to bottom of the modified pages list and also disappeared from the RSS feed (many people won't be able to read this release announcement just because of that)
It wouldn't hurt if the breadcrumbs went all the way down to the displayed page version
It would be very nice if we could see the page version number somewhere near the page title when displaying an old version
Motiro could show the "Page history" link only for pages with at least one registered revision (i.e. do not show it for pages that were not created yet)
The same link could show the number of versions available for the same page
In the case where there is a parsing error with the wiki code, we could be presented with a readable error message and the plain code instead of a white screen with a cryptic message

As always, this list is not anyhow closed. Maybe version 0.6.5 will be released with fewer features, but it isn't so unlikely that it ships with a few more. Everything will depend on the amount of time that becomes available for the project.

Sixteenth release

Version 0.6.4 will be the sixteenth release made available by the Motiro project. The main theme for it will be page versioning. Most wiki engines provide some means for retrieving and reverting to old page revisions. As of version 0.6.3, Motiro has no versioning support yet. It is about time.

But this is likely to be changed on 0.6.4. It will be all about versioning and concurrent editing.

Some ideas are:

Providing a 'Previous revisions' link on every page's edit bar
Being able to revert the page to a previous version directly from the previous revisions page
Allowing users to enter short comments for their revisions
Starting edition from a previous revision instead of always using the latest one
Warn editors when concurrent edition occurs try to automatically merge changes

This list is not closed in any sense. Please do add your suggestions if you think there is something missing.

Fifteenth release

The main goal for Motiro has always been full world dominance. It really should be the one and only project tracking system. In order to make that possible it should make easy for people to install it, insanely easy. The first steps towards that are packaging the whole thing as a gem, allowing semi-automatic updates (updates with the admin's permission) and having a tarball with fewer dependencies and easier to install.

Just to make things prettier and more pleasant to see (not no mention easier to use), we will also have one of those navigation menus (like Motiro > Subversion > Revision r502) and fix the login failure message.

For those that like bulleted item lists, here are all the planned features for 0.6.3:

Comments can be added on the individual feature pages (just click on the links). You are very welcome to vote on your favourite feature by editing this page. Just be a good kid and don't erase what others have written.

P.S.: The world dominance part is obviously a joke

As usual, three weeks after the previous release, the next one will be available. This time it will have version number 0.6.2 and will be another geared towards bug fixing and polishing.
